Literacy Week at Warwick Bridge School 6th - 10th February 2017
Day 3 Wednesday 8th February - KS 2 read with KS 1 children
All our pupils mixed together to read to one another. Our older ones went to read with Nursery and Reception children. And our Years 1 and 2 pupils read with the Years 3, 4 and 5 pupils.
Day 5 Friday 9th February - Poetry Slam Day
We spent the day looking at different poems, especially ones that are meant to be read out loud to an audience. Each class then chose their favourites and performed them in a big assembly at the end of the day. Staff also read out their favourites poems.
All the pupils were really busy this week with our Literacy activities. look at the different days to see what we have been up to.
Day 1 Monday 6th February - The Case of the Stolen Whale
William the Whale was stolen from Mrs Douglass's classroom. The police were involved! Pupils had a series of clues to follow and interviewed all the adults before the culprit was finally unmasked in a special assembly at the end of the day.
Day 2 Tuesday 7th February - Bedtime Story Afternoon
All parents and carers were invited in to school to read with the children. everyone was asked to wear nightwear and we all had hot chocolate, cream and marshmallows. What a wonderful day.
Day 4 Thursday 8th February - Author Wes Magee visits
All the school was excited when they heard that Wes Magee the author was visiting. He ran workshops and gave advice on a whole host of creative writing skills.
RE News - Experience Christmas at St Paul's Holme Eden
Our Key Stage 2 children walked up to St Paul's Church and took part in the 'Experience Christmas' sessions. Five stations were set up in the church and meeting room. The pupils learnt about the Christian messages of Christmas and how it is experienced in different homes and countries.
